Pre-construction services

A Blend of Artistry and Engineering

With experience spanning numerous material mediums and various design & structural challenges, Untethered Inc. and its sister companies offer a seamless transition from a project’s inception through its completion. We love to learn and to be confronted with original ideas and unique situations that push us into new territory.

Not once have we been hired to produce a product or service. Rather, Alaskans commission us because they know that we come to the table to trade our best for their best, and we have a track record of standing behind our work long after we walk away.

Kickoff

We focus on successfully implementing custom projects, and this requires a substantial investment of time and resources from both the owner and builder, as well as from the other professionals involved. Whether we are responsible for the design or not, we want to be involved in your project from the beginning. We utilize a Preconstruction Services Agreement (PSA) to organize and kick off this initial phase of the project. Under the PSA, we pull together the information and people necessary to work through the design, selections, costing, and scheduling of your project. By the end of this process, we have established the game plan, and the complete course of construction from beginning to end has been mapped out and is ready for execution.

Our Process

To successfully design, plan, estimate, and schedule a large project from A to Z, requires commitment to a system that is capable of effectively organizing a substantial amount of information, and then continually computing, evolving, and updating that information throughout the duration of the project. We have the system and team capable of accomplishing this task, enabling us to efficaciously bring your project to fruition.

Incompatibility between an owner and contractor is often not discovered until halfway through a project.  Our preconstruction process establishes expectations and a relationship of transparency and trust before your project begins.  We want to provide you with the freedom to make educated decisions and understand how each of them will impact the cost and schedule of your project before we break ground.

Our Values

We prioritize quality, schedule, and cost, in that order. Our products and services are an extension of our personal values; we stand behind our work and firmly believe that you pay to do things right the first time, or you pay repeatedly to fix it. The goal of our preconstruction services is to begin a working relationship with you, exhibiting a creative approach towards accomplishing your goals and instilling quality into every detail. We believe that this process is a necessary step towards building a custom home, and that it is the most cost-efficient way to design and build your project.

Our Clients

Our best-fit clients are a lot like us – they’re not attracted to out-of-the-box designs or a ready-made way of doing things. They have been successful in their professional lives, know quality when they see it, and are not swayed by gimmicks and flamboyant claims.

We don’t view our projects as a one-time service that is a perfect fit for everyone. We are typically on a project for 18-24 months, and as such, compatibility with our clients with regard to vision, personality, and values is crucial.

Why the bear?

The Untethered bear symbolizes the act of uprooting what is commonly accepted and moving forward towards another possibility. That's what we do - we shy away from the ordinary and offer "d. none of the above." in the world of residential and commercial construction.
